West Indies Tour of Srilanka

WI Tour of Sri Lanka 2021: Schedule, Scores -YuppTV Scope

WI Tour of Srilanka took place in July 2021,  where they played three ODIs and three T20I matches. The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo hosted all the matches. Following an outbreak of COVID-19, the series was moved from July 13 to July 18. India took a solid lead in the series after winning the first ODI and the second one consecutively.

The third ODI was won by Sri Lanka by three wickets, giving India a 2–1 series lead. The first T20I was won by India and Sri Lanka won a T20I series against India for the very first time. This was also their first bilateral victory over India since 2008 in all formats of international cricket.

In the WI Tour at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, the first Test between Sri Lanka (SL) and the West Indies (WI) is presently underway. The West Indies team appears to be in better shape than it was in 2016 when they last visited Sri Lanka.

For the first time since the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka and the West Indies are back in action, although in the longer format. Sri Lanka will be looking to build on their recent rise in world cricket with a good performance in this series. The West Indies, on the other hand, appear well-equipped to deal with the subcontinent conditions and play closely with the hosts, who will remain the clear favorites going into this game. In Galle, a thrilling cricket match is going on, with both teams aiming for a victory.

While Kyle Mayers has garnered more attention this year, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has been their most consistent batter by a slim margin. He batted in 556 runs at a 34.75 average in 2021, which is amazing given that he pitched most of his 16 innings against fresh new Dukes’ ball.

West Indies will likely experience a bigger impact than they did in 2016 when they lost 2-0 if he can spend significant time at the crease with his signature shades and helmet.  Watch the UFC Fight Nights – The Ultimate Championship with the YuppTV Scope app.

As expected, rain has spoiled day 3, and there will be no further play as the officials have called the day off.  The last two days are also expected to be rainy, so it will be intriguing to see if we get a result. The West Indies, on the other hand, has put up a remarkable fightback. In the morning session, they scored over 100 runs and only lost a couple of wickets. And thanks to an aggressive knock by Cornwall, they were able to avoid the follow-on as well. Sri Lanka retains a 162-run lead and is in a great position, but will rain ruin their party? We shall get to know that today and tomorrow. Please join us for the fourth day’s action, which will begin 15 minutes early at 09:45 local time. Stay tuned for more updates!
