Cricket is one such sport that is liked by everyone. When it comes to women’s cricket everyone likes and supports them. The first ODI between Indian women and Australian women was a harsh throwback to the early 2000s for all the Indian fans watching Australia’s men’s team transcend and out skill their side with supreme authority in ODI format. YuppTV Scope brings all the updates from the cricketing world, and we are all excited about the first of its kind Ind vs Aus Women Test with a Pink Ball.
India with a total of 225 was knocked out by the Australian women’s team and marked their way to a record 25th consecutive ODI win. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma got off to a flying start with 30 runs in the first 3 overs.
Both Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma could not convert their start into a big knock and fell in quick succession to Darcie Brown. The double blow coupled with Mithali Raj’s batting sucked out the momentum and once the 77-run-stand between Raj and debutant Yatika Bhatia (35 off 51 balls) got broken, the women in Blue progressed to lose their next 4 wickets for 63 runs.
2nd ODI Overview
In the 2nd ODI played on 24th Sep, Australian women 275 for 5 (Mooney 125*, McGrath 74, Carey 39*) beat Indian women 274 for 7 by 5 wickets (Mandhana 86, Ghosh 44, Goswami 28*) where McGrath took 3 wickets for 45.
For about three-quarters of Australia’s chase of a sizeable total against India, it looked like their winning streak in ODIs would be halted at 25. Some great knocks by Beth Mooney meant Australia hits home on the last ball of the game for a 5-wicket win that had more twists than one can imagine.
At the beginning of 2nd ODI things looked very different as Mandhana’s elegance had been complemented by several useful nuggets from her teammates to drive India to 274 for 7.
In the end, though, Australia needed to achieve the 3rd highest successful run-chase in women’s ODI ever, their second-highest and the highest against India. Mooney led the way to achieve the impossible for their team.
3rd ODI Overview
In the 3rd ODI, Indian women hold nerve in record chase, to end Australia women’s 26-match winning streak. Jhulan Goswami in the space of 48 hours, found redemption, as India pulled off their highest-ever chase in an ODI and finally ended Australia’s winning streak which lasted for almost four years in the ODIs format. This is the high point of the India Tour of Australia 2021 Women’s cricket.
Ironically, Australia’s winning streak in ODIs had started against India in 2018 and ended against India, too. Watch the newly released movies with the YuppTV Scope app.
On Friday night, Goswami struggled with dew and had led her team down when she conceded 13 in a poor final over which had two full tosses, the second being a controversial no-ball leading to a five-wicket defeat in the 2nd ODI at the Great Barrier Arena in Mackay.
On Sunday, against the same opponents, at the same ground, the 38-year-old Goswami came back with a bang, taking 3 wickets with her incisive bowling and then by smashing a 4 in the final over when India needed 3 off 4 balls to win and chase 265, something that they have never done before.
Putting in an all-around performance of the highest quality, Jhulan Goswami showed why she would be a key player for India going into ODI World Cup in New Zealand next year set to be her event.
A Jhulan said later in an interview that it’s important to give your best in the field, take positives and that’s what I want to do as a senior.
